General Scholarship program
In the summer of 2002, HRYF launched its scholarship fund. HRYF commits a minimum of $1,000 in scholarships annually. Scholarships are based on merit and will be awarded to at-risk youths who demonstrate a commitment to performing community service. An advisory board representing various segments of the community will select the recipients from essay submissions.
These scholarships recognize rising high school junior and senior athletes who have demonstrated leadership in the community and a commitment to pursuing a college education.
HRYF and its corporate sponsors partner each year to support area athletes with this scholarship. The partnership’s goal is to help high school athletes meet the highest academic standards while promoting education an essential tool for success.
Each applicant must meet the following requirements to be considered for this scholarship:
- Be a rising high school junior or senior athlete (member of a high school team)
- Have a minimum, cumulative grade point average of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale.
- Have demonstrated leadership in school and extracurricular activities
- Meet social and economic guidelines
